Japan

Asia is a continent full of culture. I believe Asians are still having traditions. Also they are trying to modernize their customs, through this effort the new generation is mingling with the previous one. The result of this:


--THE TIMELESS TRADITION --






 



The most famous Japanese garment is the 'kimono'. Kimono, which literally means "clothing", and up until the mid 19th century it was the form of dress worn by everyone in Japan. At the beginning of the last century, kimono became a world-wide recognizable piece from Japan. Today Japanese are still wearing kimonos (both women and men) in special occasions such as weddings,graduation ceremonies, funerals, summer festivals and so on. Also you can see 'geishas' wears kimonos in the tourist area of Japan's cities. Further there are different types of kimonos for different seasons and ages.

 Kimonos:
  • are sewn by hand 
  • are traditionally made of silk, silk brocade, silk crepes and satin weaves.
  • pattern can determine in which season it should be worn ( butterflies-spring,leaf-autumn e.t.c )
  • costs US$10000 (there is cheaper fabrics or second-hand shops to decrease the price)
